Thomas Flippin

Guitarist & Composer

Flippin is a highly acclaimed and sought-after classical guitar instructor with extensive experience teaching all ages. In addition to holding two degrees from the Yale University School of Music, he holds a certification in guitar pedagogy (suzuki) from the University of Hartford. Flippin has also lectured at Juilliard, Yale , St. Louis University and more. His students have won National Gold Medals and multiple invitations to perform in Carnegie Hall from the Royal Conservatory's Music Development Program for receiving the highest scores in the nation on their guitar examinations. 

His students have been admitted to many top guitar programs, often with merit scholarships, including: Manhattan School of Music, Mannes, Hartt School of Music, Univ. of Cincinnati College Conservatory, S.U.N.Y., Ithaca College & Carnegie Mellon.

Flippin is available for lessons in Manhattan's Upper East Side at the Diller-Quaile School of Music , at his studio in the Upper West Side, or in Bronxville NY at Concordia College Conservatory

Lessons involve technique, practice habits, sight-reading, theory & analysis, tone production, ear training, and learning how to express oneself in a fun, personal, and  lasting way through the medium of guitar.
